Meet Ditty

I always been pretty active. I started playing softball when I was 7 years old and played all the way through high school. I love being part of a team. During softball off-season, I would run cross country because my softball coach recommended it because he hated the stereotype of softball players as being bigger girls who couldn't run. I was never the best, but I worked really hard with whatever I was doing, which served me pretty well.

I decided to go out of state for college. My family moved from Connecticut to Texas when I was in 8th grade. Choosing a college was my opportunity to choose where I live. The only rules were I need to be near friends or family and the school needed to provide housing for at least 3 years. I ended up choosing Villanova due to the advice of my dad, which was the percentage of males at the schools I was deciding between. It ended up working out well. I married my college sweetheart in July of 2011 at the Villanova Chapel. The day was perfect.

I started Crossfit officially at Crossfit KOP in July of 2009. I had been trying it a little bit on my own at a globo gym prior to that at the recommendation of my dad, who had been doing Crossfit since 2007, and my boyfriend (now husband, who I call C. Varied), had been doing Crossfit since 2008. C. Varied and I joined together. I had just finished the first year of my MBA and needed something new. I wasn't in a great place with my fitness. I immediately fell in love with Crossfit. It is so empowering and has such an amazing community.

I started trying paleo within a few months of starting crossfit. I was definitely a slow adopter. What I didn't realized was how personal my food choices were to me. It was a hard adjustment for me. Now two years later, I still probably follow paleo only 80% of the time, but I really can see a different in how I look and feel.

I created this blog as a creative outlet. Within the past three years, I have completed my MBA, got two new positions as work, got engaged, ran a marathon, got married, bought a new house, and attended 10 weddings in 2011. Things are finally calming down. I am working to enjoy the moment and just be. 2012 is going to be a year of self-discovery. Please join me on my journey.
